Derwen Design is based in a workshop nestled in the picturesque hills near Carmarthen, West Wales.
With a background in steel fabrication and engineering, we’ve grown to blend our traditional craftsmanship with modern lifestyles – creating Shepherds Huts, Garden Rooms, Camper Conversions – each handbuilt to bespoke designs using quality materials.
Our passion for proper timber and high quality engineering, attention to detail, and a belief in investing time and love into ‘doing things properly’ show through in the end results we create for our customers.

Our workshop is in Carmarthenshire where our team work together to build out each design from scratch. Engineering the sub-frames, crafting each component, and assembling into the finished product.
We’ve a range of specialist equipment including CNC cutting tables, laser cutters, and good old fashioned joinery tools. We know that quality materials make a difference in the finish of each project: We use reclaimed timber in many applications, our steel work is over engineered and built to last.

We’re passionate about quality timber, high quality steelwork and proper carpentry.
You won’t find flat-packs anywhere near our designs. We don’t build from kits. Our huts are handbuilt bespoke units, built how you want them.
We do still embrace the latest technologies though, using CAD to create detailed drawings and images so you can visualise the final product and CNC plasma and laser cutting to create fantastic effects.
Using the finest materials, high quality finishes and elegant touches, you’ll get a finished product that suits you perfectly and you’ll enjoy for years to come.

Beautiful craftsmanship
Our customer was looking for a space to use as an office in the garden but wanting something that was nice to look at and a little cosier than the norm, we created something a little out of the ordinary.
The customer liked the exterior look of a shepherds hut, so we worked out a design that fitted in the office essentials, as well as accommodating their passion for music – hence the guitar rack over the bench unit. This hut also features the optional hardwood exposed roof beams as well as hardwood doors and windows for that more traditional feel.
A few years into its use, they still love it and has come an integral part of the home.
